- Telix
Telix is a
telecommunications program originally written forDOS by Colin Sampaleanu and released in 1986. More recent versions were distributed bydeltaComm Development , including a version for Windows. The DOS version was considered by some to be one of the most popular
shareware programs of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its strengths included having a fast built-in version of theZmodem file transfer protocol, rather than needing a separate program, and a powerful scriptingprogramming language similar to C, 'SALT' (Script Application Language for Telix). The Windows version suffered from a variety of problems, including delays in publication (it was a complete rewrite by a new author in
Turbo Pascal for Windows rather than the original's C), an unpopular attempt atcopy protection ; and theWorld Wide Web 's impact onbulletin board system s also reduced demand.Telix can be used to dial bulletin board systems or other phone-line based services. It supports ANSI emulation and various file transfer protocols.
