Tidewater Unix Users Group

The Tidewater Unix User's Group. AKA TWUUG, is a local Unix/Linux User Group serving the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (the seven connected cities in southeastern VA: Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton, and Newport News. The group was originally founded in 1990. All UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems are discussed, including BSD's and Linux.

TWUUG sponsors monthly meetings as well as a very active mailing list.

Meetings

Meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. An informal pre-meeting dinner is usually held at a restaurant near the hospital.

Meetings typically include demonstrations of various software, hardware, and/or tutorials. Given the popularity of FOSS, much of the focus is on free and open source related projects. Members are encouraged to give presentations on personal projects as well as anything they are interested in or would like to contribute.
