Mumbai . It is a calm and quiet locality with ample open spaces. The colony is bounded by Shell Colony to the south,Vidyavihar to the north, Pestom Sagar to its east andKurla to its west. It was formerly known as "Township colony".It was planned and built in the sixties as a lower middle class colony, chiefly comprising of
chawls . The colony is now getting a facelift as the chawls are being pulled down to be replaced with residential high-rises. There is also increased commercial development in the colony over the last decade.The colony is serviced by the Harbour line of the Central Railway via the Tilak Nagar station. The stations of Vidyavihar and
Chembur are also in close proximity. The access toLokmanya Tilak Terminus (Kurla Terminus) is also via Tilak Nagar station. It has a lavish gardens and playgrounds.It is famous for its ganapati festivals.
