Wisconsin state park in Waunakee,Dane County, Wisconsin on the shore ofLake Mendota . It is named for former Wisconsin GovernorGaylord Nelson . On most days theWisconsin State Capitol building can be seen in nearby Madison. Common activities includeboating ,fishing ,picnic king andswimming . There is also aboat launch and a swimming area forpet s. Away from thelake one can find restoredprairie andsavanna ,effigy mound s,hiking trials and ski trails. Governor Nelson State Park is one of the few Wisconsin state parks that does not allow overnightcamping .Below are some examples of some of the natural beauty that can be seen at the park.
