Kevin Major (born
September 12 ,1949 ) is a Canadianchildren's author who lives in St. John's,Newfoundland and Labrador .Major was born and raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador. He later moved to St. John's where he attended
Memorial University . After graduating, Major became a teacher for a few years before quitting to write full time. His novels are known for exploring issues ofadolescence and the family. They are usually set on theIsland of Newfoundland . In 1992 he was awarded theVicky Metcalf Award for his body of work.Bibliography
