Club career

Husyev started his career for FC Arsenal Kyiv.

He transferred to Dynamo in the summer of 2003. Following his strong display in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Husyev was linked with a move to French side Olympique Lyonnais.[1] However, Dynamo Kyiv President Ihor Surkis stated that Husyev, along with fellow players Artem Milevskiy and Ruslan Rotan, are "the future of Dynamo Kyiv".[2]

In the 2007–2008 season he was a key figure in Dynamo Kyiv's and Ukraine's midfield providing numerous assists. His great season, which saw him score five goals for Dynamo Kyiv and four goals for Ukraine, came to an early end after an injury to his knee that kept him out of play until mid November 2008.

International

Oleh Husyev is also one of the starting midfielders for the Ukrainian national football team.

World Cup 2006

Oleh Husyev was on Ukraine's squad in its first-ever appearance to the World Cup in 2006. He scored the winning goal against Switzerland in the penalty shoot out.

Although he failed to score in the World Cup, Husyev scored in a friendly after the World Cup. The match took place in Kiev against Azerbaijan where he scored in the 4th goal in the 45th minute. Ukraine won the match with a 6–0 win.

Euro 2008 Qualifying

Husyev scored four goals in the UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifying campaign for Ukraine. The first came in a 2–0 win over Faroe Islands on 24 March 2007 where he scored on the 57th minute. The second goal was on 28 March 2007 where he scored the winning goal in the 47th minute in Ukraine's 1–0 win of Lithuania. On 17 October 2007, Husyev scored two more goals against the Faroe Islands in the 43rd and 45th minutes in the 5–0 win.
