Football Federation of Ukraine . The winner of the competition is awarded a qualification to theUEFA Cup (prior to 2000 to theUEFA Cup Winner's Cup ). From 2007/08 season and until 2011/12 season includingly, this tournament's official name is "DATAGROUP − Football Ukraine Cup".Format
The format of this competition fluctuates annually. Mainly the competition is limited to the professional level clubs. Currently the Premier division clubs are granted a bye all the way to the 1/16 of the final. At one point for couple of years this competition included a subcompetition which was called as the
Ukrainian Second League Cup . During that time only the clubs of theUkraine Premier League andUkrainian First League along with the finalists of theUkrainian Second League Cup competed in this Cup competition. In the 90's amateur clubs, usually Oblast Cup Champions were allowed to compete on the volunteer bases. Since 2007 the winner of theUkrainian Amateur Cup is allowed to compete.History
The first Cup competition brought as much surprises as the championship of 1992. The main contender and the best Ukrainian team ever,
Dynamo Kyiv , settled in a draw in its first game at home against, what used to be an amateur club in Soviet times, Skala Stryi and in the next round, quarterfinals, was defeated by theFC Torpedo Zaporizhia . Nevertheless, since thenDynamo Kyiv continues to dominate not only in the amount of the gained championship titles, but in amount of the Cups won as of today.Finals
