The Instituto Camões (En: Camões Institute) is an institution created for the promotion of the
Portuguese language and culture world-wide. The Instituto Camões has administrative and patrimonial autonomy, that, under the supervision of the Portuguese Minister of the Foreign Affairs, assures the co-ordination and execution of the external cultural policies of Portugal.Language centres
The Institute's Portuguese Language Centres ("Centros de Língua Portuguesa" or CLP) are centres which aim to promote the Portuguese language as well as to co-operate with different countries in the field of education.

The Institute's Portuguese cultural centres ("Centros culturais portugueses") are centres whose aim is the promotion of cultural relations between Portugal and other countries, including those with which Portugal has strong historical and cultural ties, and where Portuguese is already widely spoken. This is in contrast to
