After graduating with the class of 1957, he served three tours inVietnam and rose through the ranks quickly, mostly serving in the Army'sTraining and Doctrine Command , in which he eventually became its 4-star commander.During his military career, he received many military awards and honors including the
Army Distinguished Service Medal (with twooak leaf clusters , theDefense Distinguished Service Medal , theNavy Distinguished Service Medal , theAir Force Distinguished Service Medal , theLegion of Merit , and the Bronze Star (withValor device and sixoak leaf clusters ). He retired from active service in 1991.After his retirement from the Army, Carl Vuono joined
