Ftelia (Gr. Φτελιά) is a world-wide famous beach of the famous island of
Mykonos . Its northern location has established the beach as awindsurfer 's paradise, as it almost always quite windy. The beach is also well-known for the famousneolithic settlement found there that is believed to be the tomb of ancientIliad war hero Ajax the Locrian.Ftelia is an isolated, very tranquil place during the busy
Mykonos months and as it is not very crowded because it is quite windy and dusty.Ftelia is also a village in the
Drama prefecture , in northeasternGreece . Its population is approximately 500 (2005 est.). Its name in Greek means the tree elm. It is situated 9k m to the south of the city ofDrama, Greece . It is part of the municipality ofKalampaki . A large part of its residents are descendants of Greeks which were expelled fromEastern Rumelia (now a region of southern Bulgaria) by Bulgarians during theBalkan Wars . It has a primary school. It also has a football team named Aris Ftelias which takes part in the prefecture of Drama amateur devision.External links
