The Swedish Rail Administration ( _sv. Banverket) is a government agency that owns and maintains virtually all railway lines in Sweden. It was formed in 1988 when Statens Järnvägar was split, leaving Statens Järnvägar as mainly a railway operator and real estate owner, only to be split again in 2001. Its headquarters are located in Borlänge; acting director general is Minoo Akhtarzand.

The Swedish Railway Inspectorate ("Järnvägsinspektionen") was a part of Banverket until 2004, when the Swedish Rail Agency ("Järnvägsstyrelsen") was formed, taking over its responsibilities.
