Before (and during) the erection of Fajar Station, residents of this part of
Bukit Panjang Town were served by a bus service that called on the bus stop just next to the Fajar Station, namely the late TIBS Bus number 179. This bus brought passengers aroundBukit Panjang Town and towards the Choa Chu Kang MRT train station where they could transfer easily to the train system mentioned.TIBS Bus number 179 has since been axed; Fajar Station, thus the
Bukit Panjang LRT Line , now caters to the residents living in the vicinity of the station and still brings passengers to the Choa Chu Kang MRT train station.Vicinity
Fajar station serves the residents of HDB flats (Apartments) located along the northern part of Bukit Panjang Ring Road. The station is conveniently situated right next to Fajar Neighbourhood Shopping Centre, catering to the needs of residents living near-by, be it the market, food, body wellness, etc. It is also a stone's throw away from Chi Hock Keng (Buddhist) Temple.
