Gundog Group

Gundog Group is the name of a breed Group of dogs, used by kennel clubs to classify a defined collection of hunting dog breeds. Different kennel clubs may not include the same breeds in their "Gundog Group" and dog breeds listed in the Gundog Group are not all of the same dog type.

Gundogs

Gun Dogs are hunting dogs that are primarily used to hunt birds in a variety of settings. The name refers to breeds of Retrievers, Flushing Dogs (including Pointers, Setters and Flushing Spaniels) and Water Dogs.

"Gundog Group" may also be a term used by minor kennel clubs, breed clubs, sporting clubs, and internet-based dog businesses. Each may or may not define the term separately. In addition, there are many new or rare breeds that are not yet recognized by any major registry that may eventually be listed in the Gundog Group or the Sporting Group of a major kennel club. Some breeds of gundog may be listed in the Canadian Kennel Club or American Kennel Club Sporting Group.
