Warrensburg is a
town in Warren County,New York ,USA . It is part of the Glens Falls,New York Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,255 at the 2000 census. Like the county, the town is named after GeneralJoseph Warren .The Town of Warrensburg is in the southeast part of the county, located west of Lake George.
U.S. Route 9 passes through the town, which is immediately west ofInterstate 87 (The Northway).Only significant community in the town is also called Warrensburg, and is also recognized by U.S. Census Bureau as a

*The town was first settled near Warrensburg village around 1790.

United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 64.8square mile s (168.0km² ), of which, 63.7 square miles (165.0 km²) of it is land and 1.1 square miles (2.9 km²) of it (1.74%) is water.The west town line is the

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 4,255 people, 1,718 households, and 1,166 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 66.8 people per square mile (25.8/km²). There were 2,148 housing units at an average density of 33.7/sq mi (13.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.14% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.47% of the population.There were 1,718 households out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% were married couples living together, 13.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the town the population was spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.8 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $30,873, and the median income for a family was $34,890. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $20,536 for females. The
per capita income for the town was $15,343. About 13.7% of families and 16.8% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 24.2% of those under age 18 and 7.3% of those age 65 or over.Events of Interest
