Caloz was born in Montreal, Quebec. He acted as Dora Winafred Read (DW) from when he was ten years old until he was 12 years old as creators needed a younger actor in order to keep DW's voice consistent during the show's run. He also voices Annie on The Little Lulu Show. He has performed in several movies, including Screamers, which was based on the Philip K. Dick story Second Variety. He has also performed as a live actor on several TV shows such as a ghost in an episode of Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark.
He has two brothers and plays piano, guitar and violin.
