- Canadian federal election results in the Fraser Valley and Southern Lower Mainland
__NOEDITSECTION__This is page shows results of Canadian federal elections in the Fraser Valley and parts of the Greater Vancouver Regional District south of the Fraser River.
Regional profile
The Fraser Valley is traditionally the most conservative area in British Columbia, although it is slowly becoming more liberal as urban sprawl extends eastward. This region has been dominated by the Conservatives and the former Reform and Canadian Alliance parties in recent elections, and the Conservatives still hold 7 of the 10 seats Nonetheless, the Liberals and, to a lesser extent, the New Democratic Party have made inroads recently in the western parts of the region, while Conservative support remains very strong from Langley eastward. It is possible that the Conservatives could lose some of the more suburban seats in the GVRD, however, support should solidify farther east as social policies like same-sex marriage become dramatically more unpopular.
