Rishton is a small town in the Hyndburn district of Lancashire, England, about 2 miles west of Clayton-le-Moors and 4 miles east of Blackburn. It constituted an urban district from 1894 to 1974.

Cricket

Rishton has over the years been famous for its cricket team. Its more notable professional was Viv Richards in 1987. One of Rishton's finest has to be Peter Sleep who has been involved with the club for many years and set a new amateur batting record of 1080 runs in a season.Other former professional include, former England Coach Duncan Fletcher, Sky Sports' very own Michael Holding former West Indies international, Aussie fast bowler Jason Gillespie, former South African cricket captain Allan Donald and Sri Lankan right-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler Kumar Dharmasena.

East Lancs Sailing Club

Located on Rishton Reservoir at the side of Cutwood Park, East Lancs Sailing Club sails Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. ELSC is also a RYA training establishment.
