Smithy Bridge railway station serves the village of Smithy Bridge near Rochdale in Greater Manchester, England. The station is on the Caldervale Line 20 km (12¾ miles) north of Manchester Victoria on the way to Leeds.

ervices

Monday to Saturday daytimes there is a half-hourly service to Manchester Victoria southbound and to Leeds northbound.

Evenings and Sundays there is an hourly service in each direction.

Future plans from December 2008

Northern Rail have proposed changes to the Caldervale line services from December 2008. Three trains per hour will run between Leeds and Manchester Victoria - one will be the current stopping service, one will go via Dewsbury and Brighouse, and include stops at Moston, Mills Hill and Castleton, and one will be a limited stop service - between Bradford and Manchester the service will only call at Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Rochdale. History

1915: The station was the scene of a tragic accident involving an express train and an empty stock train. Four people died and many others were injured.
