Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College (GBPEC) is an autonomous State Government Higher Technical Institution. It was created in 1989 to honour the great Indian Freedom Fighter Padma Ratna Shri. Govind Ballabh Pant. The institute is located in serenity and purity of the Garhwal Himalayas, at a height of 1800m (approx 7000 ft.) above Sea Level and overlooks the Great Himalayan Range on its East flank. Though the institute is still in its infancy, its future is extremely bright. Currently, it provides under-graduate and graduate courses with the vision of providing Doctoral and Post-Doctoral education in the near future.

Overview

It forms the Faculty of Engineering of the Hemwati Nandan Garhwal University, Srinagar and Uttrakhand Tecnical University (UTU),Dehradoon. G. B. Pant Engineering College is located about 12 km from Pauri and is about 30 km away from Dev Prayag and 28 Km away from srinagar garhwal.The principal of the college is an IAS officer who is also the DM of the pauri district of uttrakhand.

Courses offered

The Institution currently offers courses in MCA , M. Tech, B. E.

The Institution currently has eight departments: five in Engineering and three in Sciences and Applied Sciences.

The Engineering Department presently offers under-graduate B. E. degrees in six fields namely:

1. Civil Engg.
2. Computer Sciences and Engineering
3. Electrical Engg.
4. Mechanical Engg.
5. Production Engg.
6. Electronics and Comm. Engg.

The Applied Sciences/ Sciences departments offers 0ne degrees in the following fields:

1. MCA

The Engineering Department presently offers Post-graduate M.Tech program in two fields namely:

1. M.Tech Digital Signal Processing
2. M.Tech Bio-Technology

Admission is open for Engineering Departments through All India Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE) which conducts an entrance exam at all India Level, passing through you can join the college. 85% of seats are reserved for candidates who are domicile of uttrakhand.Admissions for the Departments in Sciences/Applied Sciences are open through Uttrakhand Technical University.

Many of the college Alumni have been working in top level organizations / companies in India and abroad.

Hostels:
The College being a Fully Residential College requires every student to live in hostel.

There are 2 hostels for girls,Raman Girls Hostel and Alaknanda Girls hostel.4 hostels for Boys Neelkanth , Vishwasarya , Kedar,Kailash . Mess is available inside every hostel.

The college has a leased line from bsnl which provide internet facilities to various computer labs in college.
