Siripuram is a village convert|22|km|0 by road and convert|18|km|0 by rail from Guntur. This village comes under Medikonduru mandal and under sattenpalli consistency. Population of this village is approximately 10,000 people.

In one view Siripuram is having a posh look, cement roads spread out in most part of the village, considerably attractive buildings, with good infrastructure and amenities which are needed in our daily life. Along with that our village is having a very good transportation facility to nearby towns, primary health care centers, veterinary hospital, post office, bank, schools and college.

On the contrary, we still could see a cluster of mud-plastered walls shaded by trees, set among a stretch of green or dun-colored fields, with a handful of people moving around, oxcarts creaking, cattle lowing, and birds singing--all presenting an image of harmonious simplicity.

Youth of the village are concentrating on education. Parents are putting maximum effort to provide good education to their children. With hard effort and single-minded devotion, you can make possible what seems impossible. I believe this is what youth of siripuram is doing. We can see many educated youth settled abroad (US, Europe, UAE, different zones of Asian region…ex) and all major cities of India as doctors, teachers, lawyers, engineers and many skilled professionals.

Economy of the village is dependend on cultivation like any other typical village in Andhra Pradesh, India. Agro & Food processing industries are yet to be encouraged. Children in village should be provided with a quality and value based education. Infrastructure and teaching methodologies in schools are to be reformed. Villagers should be united for development.

Major events

January, Tirunalla

Festive fever starts from 25 December,Christmas and children from school will be eagerly waiting for the holidays for this festival, and elders would engage themselves in cleaning their houses and making arrangements for their guests for this 3 days festival. Many homes of the village are decorated with lights, buntings, and stars.December 31st night, we can witness a considerably large gathering of villagers at church campus for seeing Drama / Natakam which is performed by the village artists. Audience will get more energetic when a song is about to be sung, and peculiar aspect of the audience is to shout “Once more” after it is over. And another interesting point is sudden applause comes from audience after a powerful dialogue punches from a stage artist. When the clock strikes 12, all of a sudden stage lights will go dim and big drums beats begin with Happy New Year wishes followed by audience wishing among themselves.

First 3 days of a year (i.e 1–3 January), Siripuram village people will celebrat this as tirunala (it is also called utsav, or mela). When we think of this 3-day festival, different images conjure up in our mind; particularly a crowded gathering in village roads, each family of village felt it’s our festival irrespective religion/community. Wow…How good it looks like, and this event makes distinctive characteristic/representation to our village along with that it brings harmony among religions.

This festival is celebrated on the eve of naming ceremony preformed to God Jesus Christ after his birth, hence this festival is called “Jesu Namakarana Mahostavm”.

First day of the festival i.e on January 1st everyone comes to church, lights candles before God Jesus Christ and get his blessings. Many cultural activities are organized in church campus like kolatam, chekka bajana, etc which will draw big crowd. This is followed by Ooreganipu, starting with fire works, goodess Mary Matha is believed to come to village streets to give her blessing to the villagers.

During this festive season churches will be decorated with wonderful light work best to suit the mood of the joy and happiness. These 3 days, the churches will be open all round the day for seeing special prayers conducted by the church father.

Village roads are packed up with many toys stalls, rangula rantalu, lotteries, different food making carts(peechu mitai, jilebi, panchara chilakulu etc) and cheruku stalls.

We will observe many interesting things like groups of youngsters coming to these lottery shops (famously called as koppulata) and put money. Group of children will come to streets for playing rangularatanm and buying toys and group village women will come out for making new purchases for their children.

ankranthi Sambaralu

sankranthi is a three day festival The first day of this festival is called Bhogi. On this day youngsters and children of the family are supposed to wake early, before the sunrise and collect dry twigs, grass and other similar kinds of combustible material and light a bonfire. The ash from the bhogi is also used by people, and applied on their foreheads.

The second day is the actual Sankranthi day. In every house used to prepare some sweets which spreads good aroma to neighbors.

Kanumu is the third day and is celebrated as a cattle festival. On this day the peasants wake up early to bathe their cattle & paint their horns with bright colors and tie bells around their necks.

We will really enjoyed to see scenes like gangireddulavadu come before of every one house and ask his ox/bull to "AYYAGARIKI DANDAM pettu, Ammagariki Dandam pettu," then woman/men of the house offers grain and cloth to the ox/bull - aptly dressed for the occasion - and the ox nods and bows in acknowledgement of the munificence before moving to the next house. Total month women of the house (teluginti sirpuram aadapaduchulu) draw muggulu or rangoli on the front yards of the house. The muggulu is a sort of decorative pattern generally drawn with mortar. Special decorations, costumes, weapons are given to the Utsava Vigraham to form various avatars.

During festive season, each day begins with Bavatgita parayanam , and followed by pooja with asta shasranamam. One more special attraction is Bathkamma pooja, group of village women sit around goodess and clapping rhythmically for a songs and all songs carry the essence - `long live mother' - urging the goddess to take birth. Vinayaka Chaviti Celebrations

Vinayaka Chavithi is Lord Ganesha's birthday. This festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi. It evokes so many sweet memories from the childhood, as we wake up so early this day and get ready to go fields and collect partika ( jielledu, mamadi, nandi vardanam, ….ex) for puja, followed by dip in water canal.

Considerably biggest idols of Lord Ganesha are, being installed in various places of siripuram and during the celebrations, devotees would be allowed to have darshan round-the-clock, and school-going children put their slates and books marked with Sandal paste and vermilion near the platform of Vinayaka.
