The Arrilaser is a
digital film recorder made byArri which writes digital movie files ontofilm after compositing andaudio mastering on thecomputer . Files are sent to the device via a fastgigabit Ethernet connection. The Arrilaser uses threesolid-state laser s (red, green, and blue) as a light source, and significantly reduces the cost of recordingdigital image s onto film. Its chief competitor isCelco 'sFilm Fury CRT -based recorder. As of December 2006, there were approximately 200 Arrilasers in usage worldwide;Technicolor owned the most (24),CapitalFX retained the most in Europe (6), and the UK had more (24) than any country outside of the US.
