The Shores of Poker Flat is an unincorporated community in Calaveras County, California. It sits at an elevation of 580 feet (176 m) above sea level and is located at coord|37.90306|N|120.58111|W|, on the shore of the Tulloch Reservoir. The community is in ZIP code 95222 and area code 209.

It has been claimed that this was the locale of Bret Harte's "The Outcasts of Poker Flat" [cite web | url=http://ohp.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=21392 | title=Calaveras | work=California Historical Landmarks | publisher=Office of Historic Preservation, State of California] . However, another area known as Poker Flat is in the northern Gold Rush area, near La Porte in Plumas County, and it is the latter that is usually recognized as the location of Harte's story [cite magazine | title=Take your imagination to old La Porte | journal=Sunset | date=September 1984 | url=http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1216/is_v173/ai_3331070 | format=Reprint] .

In late 1849 there was a large mining camp here, with miners washing gold out on both banks of the Stanislaus River.
