- MAX Green Line
The MAX Green Line is an under construction
light rail route in theMAX Light Rail system inPortland, Oregon ,United States , extending toClackamas, Oregon . Major portions of the route are under construction, with a planned opening set for September 2009.The Green Line will run over tracks presently under construction in two projects, connected over existing rails:
*Portland Mall Revitalization Project: Will add light rail tracks to the
Portland Transit Mall on both Fifth and Sixth Avenues between Portland State University and Union Station. The project was born of the need to relieve congestion on the existingdowntown Portland MAX alignment on Yamhill and Morrison Streets. This project was originally conceived as part of a north-south light rail project betweenVancouver, Washington and Clackamas. Upon opening, scheduled for 2009, bothMAX Yellow Line and the Green Line are planned to run on these tracks.*Banfield-Burnside Eastside MAX: The Green Line will run over a portion of the original MAX alignment (completed in 1986) between the connection to the new Mall section at the west end of the Steel Bridge to a new connection to the I-205 extension south of Gateway Transit Center.
*I-205 Light Rail Project: Will add a new 6.5 mile (10.5 km) alignment between Gateway Transit Center and a new Clackamas Town Center Transit Center. The majority of this route will use the grade-separated, unfinished
I-205 Transitway built at the time I-205 was constructed.Future plans
