Alpha Telescopii (α Tel / α Telescopii) is the brightest star in the constellation Telescopium.

Alpha Telescopii is a blue-white B-type subgiant with an apparent magnitude of +3.49. It is approximately 249 light years from Earth. The quality of the mensurations of its position converts it in advisable to use like reference in astrometrics applications [not sure what that is supposed to mean as it is not proper English] and the data of the Tycho Catalog points out it as possible intrinsic variable, not still verified.
