A predominantly rural municipality, Zorra was formed in 1975 through the amalgamation of East Nissouri, West Zorra and North Oxford townships.The township's population increased by 0.9% between the 2001 and 2006 Canadian Census results (from 8052 to 8125). The 2006 census also counted 2,994 dwellings in the township.
