Responsibility in DUI Laws

Responsibility in DUI Laws

Responsibility in DUI Laws, Inc. (RIDL) is a non-profit organization of citizens who are concerned over what they see as temperance-oriented trends in driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while intoxicated (DWI) laws as well as how they are enforced.

Its goals include promoting graduated penalties for DUI/DWI convictions, repeal of DUI/DWI per se laws that presume guilt, and requiring police to inform people of their right to an alcohol blood test after arrest. It is also concerned over such issues as sobriety road blocks and the accuracy of Breathalyzers and other alcohol breath test machines.

Among its other actions, RIDL challenges the accuracy of alcohol-related traffic fatality statistics reported by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and other groups.
