Cicero-North Syracuse High School was built as Cicero High School in
1967 . The former Cicero High School opened in1969 , and served the immediate Cicero area.In
1976 , the school was the site of a strike by theNew York State United Teachers that lasted two weeks, resulting in replacement teachers from nearbySyracuse University being hired as temporary replacements. However, one teacher, physics teacher Emilio Colabello, was killed as a drunk driver hit a ditch and careened into a line of striking teachers. The strike ended by ruling of theNew York State Supreme Court ordering the six leaders to ten days in jail.In
1978 , the Cicero High School Golden Eagles marching band won the New York State Field Band Conference championship. In
1982 , Cicero High School and North Syracuse Central High School merged their bands (the Golden Eagles and the Northmen, respectively) into the Northstars in anticipation of a merger between their schools. In
1983 , Cicero High School was consolidated with the North Syracuse Central High School (currently North Syracuse Junior High School) in the North Syracuse Central School District to form the current Cicero-North Syracuse High School. In
1987 , the Cicero-North Syacuse marching band won the New York State Field Band Conference championship, and was also the Class AAA Champion at the Bands of America Grand National Championship (finishing second overall).During the fall of 2004, numerous students were questioned for the pipe-bombing of a newspaper box in the neighborhood Darby Farms, one of Cicero's oldest neighborhoods. No students have been charged as of yet.
In 2004, CNS was host to a sudden rash of bomb threats, totaling seventeen in a three-month span. Two students were later arrested for at least one threat written on a note and left in a bathroom at the school. In December, 2005 they found the real culprit of the threat and the school could only apologize to the two arrested kids for their mistake. The school was affected by a similar rash of these threats in 1996.Also of note a fire ensued as a disgruntled student set fire to a restroom.
The Varsity Football team won the League Championship for the 2007 season by defeating everyone in their path, and also winning the very first "Star Wars Cup" over rivals the Liverpool Warriors.
In 2006, CNS won the Syracuse Area Live Theater Youth (S.A.L.T.Y.) award for best High School Musical with their performance of "The Music Man" [http://saltyawards.org/SALTYwinners.htm "SALTY Awards 2006"] , Retrieved

Currently, CNS faces the problem of overcrowding. As of
2007 , the school reportedly served 2,417 students [http://www.nscsd.org/uploads/Guidance/Profile%202007.doc "School Profile 2007"] , RetrievedJuly 29 ,2008 .] . Although many district restructuring plans have been discussed by the North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education, there have been no changes made to accommodate this overcrowding problem.Although the school experiences overcrowding, over 80% of students have passed all of the New York State Regents exams. As a result, the school was given a satisfactory report. [http://nscsd.org/files/filesystem/school%20report%20card%2008.pdf "School Report Card 2008"] , Retrieved
July 30 ,2008 .] Furthermore, the number of graduates increases every year. The turf at the Michael J. Bragman stadium was closed in April, 2008, because it was believed that the artificial turf contained
lead in the paint. In July 2008, theConsumer Product Safety Commission assured that the lead levels were low enough not to cause harm.
