P.ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ರಾವ್Birth name Pandeshwara Kalinga Rao Also known as p.kalingarao Born 1914 Origin Udupi district, Karnataka, India Died September 21, 1981 Genres Bhavageete, Sugama Sangeetha Occupations Singer, songwriter Pandeshwara Kalinga Rao (Kannada: ಪಾಂಡೇಶ್ವರ ಕಾಳಿಂಗ ರಾವ್) (1914 – September 21, 1981) was a Bhavageete and Sugama Sangeetha singer and composer in the Kannada language who was known as the "Monarch of light music in Kannada"[1] He popularised Kannada Bhavageete, a form of music which derives lyrics from popular poetry and devotional works. Among his famous songs are "bArayya beLadingaLE", "Bramha ninge joDisteeni", "mooDal kuNigal kere yEri", "nageyu baruthide yenage".
He was Chief Composer at the Gubbi Veeranna Drama Company. He acted and composed the music for "VasanthaSena".
He had four children Prema, Vasanth, Sharath and Santosh.
