Dora Award s for the roles of Billy in "The Collected Works of Billy the Kid ", and The Man in "On the Verge" (Tarragon Theatre ).As a teenager, Hughes lived in London, Ontario where he attended Saunders Secondary School and played French Horn in the school band. His blond hair and strong features made him popular with the female student population. He performed in school drama productions and also had small, non-speaking roles in plays at the Stratford, Ontario Shakespearean Festival. Hughes is married to fellow actress
Megan Follows , best known for her role as "Anne Shirley" in the Anne of Green Gables miniseries.
