Dawson Community Airport (IATA: GDVICAO: KGDVFAA LID: GDV) is a county-owned public-use airport located four nautical miles (7 km) northwest of the central business district of Glendive, a city in Dawson County, Montana, United States.[1] This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.[2] It is also designated to receive commercial service subsidized by the federal Essential Air Service (EAS) program.

Scheduled air service at Glendive ended on March 8, 2008, when Big Sky Airlines (the designated EAS operator) ceased operation. Great Lakes Airlines has been given USDOT approval to take over EAS service between Glendive and Billings, Montana.[3]

Facilities and aircraft

Dawson Community Airport covers an area of 413 acres (167 ha) at an elevation of 2,458 feet (749 m) above mean sea level. It has two asphalt paved runways: 12/30 is 5,704 by 100 feet (1,739 x 30 m) and 2/20 is 3,000 by 60 feet (914 x 18 m).[1]

For the 12-month period ending June 30, 2007, the airport had 5,815 aircraft operations, an average of 15 per day: 55% general aviation, 45% air taxi, and <1% military. At that time there were 17 aircraft based at this airport: 100% single-engine.[1]
