Ottoman strawberry

The Ottoman strawberry (Turkish: Osmanlı çileği) is a variety of strawberry which is cultivated in Turkey.[1] It is a different species, Fragaria vesca, to the commonly cultivated garden strawberry.

The cultivation of the Ottoman strawberry is associated with the Arnavutköy neighbourhood of Istanbul.[2] It is also grown extensively near the town of Karadeniz Ereğli in Zonguldak province, Turkey. A festival to celebrate the Ottoman strawberry is held at Karadeniz Ereğli in June each year.[3]
