Orlando "Q" Rodriguez (born September 13, 1947) is an American rock and jazz percussionist [1] based in New York City.[2] He began his career as a teenager during the early 1960s, playing with Jackie McLean in Slugs nightclub in New York. Salsa singer Ismael Miranda sung in his first bands with Rodriguez and piano player Mark Diamond.[3] Throughout his career he has recorded on albums by or has played with Jay and the Americans, Sam Wooding, Bill Saxton, James Brown, Walter Becker and Donald Fagan of Steely Dan, Sam and Dave Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Ashford and Simpson, Max Roach, Kathie Lee Gifford, Nancy Wilson, Ben E. King, Ralfi Pagan, and Aaron Neville.[2] He is also the featured percussionist on Wynton Marsalis' "Live at the House of Tribes" [4][5][6][7]
