Oregon Trail, 3rd Edition

Oregon Trail, 3rd Edition

Oregon Trail, 3rd Edition is the third game in the Oregon Trail series.

Changes

  • The game makes heavy use of video animations when talking to people in each town.
  • The cities and other locations are done in a more detailed style.
  • Instead of choosing skills at the start of the game, the user must select up to four skilled partners to accompany him or her. The occupations of the partners include a blacksmith, midwife, and sharpshooter.
  • The abrupt hazard messages (snakebite, cholera, etc.) have been replaced with video messages from the player's partners.
  • There are various minor changes, such as how to buy a supply package. In the second game, you were offered it when you started the game. In the third edition, you have to buy it from the store yourself.
  • Fishing is a new feature of the game, serving a similar purpose to hunting
  • Botany is also added, where the player must identify whether the local plants are edible or poisonous

Remake

Oregon Trail, 4th Edition is a slight remake of the 3rd Edition. No important changes were made for the fourth edition.

In future games

  • The plant gathering and fishing aspects were retained for the remake of Oregon Trail II, named Oregon Trail, 5th Edition.
