The Ooty Racecourse in Ooty, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu is a significant place in the central part of the green hills at an altitude of 2,268m above sea level. The race course lies adjacent to the railway station. The horse races are conducted in the summer season, from April to June. The main event of the racing season is "The Nilgiri Gold Cup Race", a traditional and popular race. For 125 years of racing in this hill station “The Post Centenary Silver Jubilee Cup” special race has been conducted. The main reason behind the time of occurrence of this sport event is that, In vacation and to enjoy the cool climate people use to come large in numbers. Horse racing, a major liveliness of the yearly summer tourist season in this Udagamandalam, will get in progress at the course is perfectly placed and extensive over 55 acres in the center of the Ooty town. Running area about 2.4 km long and is one of the famous race courses in India and Also this race course is ideally located in the heart of the town.
