Oakley Observatory is an astronomical observatory operated by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Oakley Observatory is a teaching observatory with eight permanently mounted telescopes. One of the telescopes is a six-inch refractor built by Clark and Sons in 1886. The other telescopes are all reflecting telescopes ranging in size from eight to twenty two inches. In addition to being used for astronomy classes students use the observatory for research and recreation. Students at Rose-Hulman have discovered 33 minor planets, including 2001 QG68, 2001 QU71, 2001 RF43, (43592) 2001 QC72, (51911) 2001 QD68, (55051) 2001 QT68, (55052) 2001 QU68, (55053) 2001 QV68,(57219) 2001 QY71, (57292) 2001 QV174, (61403) 2000 QG9, (61445) 2000 QF25, (63605) 2001 QE68, (77796) 2001 QL68, (88432) 2001 QR68, (88433) 2001 QS68, (109183) 2001 QO68, (119180) 2001 QN68, (131439) 2001 QK68, (139557) 2001 QF68, (139558) 2001 QJ68, (139841) 2001 RG43, (165722) 2001 QP68, (193946) 2001 RH43, as well as nine named minor planets:
