The Owner–Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) is an international trade organization dedicated to the interests of truck drivers. Founded in 1973, the organization represents professional drivers and actively works to affect state and federal legislation regarding the trucking industry. The nearly 160,000 members of OOIDA are men and women in all 50 states and Canada who collectively own and/or operate more than 240,000 individual heavy-duty trucks and small truck fleets.
The association's headquarters are located near Kansas City in Grain Valley, Missouri, and is staffed with 325 full-time employees. Officers and directors of the OOIDA are all either former or current professional truck drivers, and are elected by the organization's members. The OOIDA is the publisher of Land Line Magazine, a trade publication designed to keep truck drivers informed of current regulations, products, and services.
