Nisse is one of seventeen protected city- and village views in Zeeland, and is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Zuid-Beveland. In its characteristic fourteenth century church tower, with fifteenth century church, frescos and old gravestones can be found. On the village square, restored in 1975, next to the church you can find a bandstand, a 18th century water pump and a "vaete" - a pool used as a drinking place for cattle in past.
Nisse's varied surroundings consist of meadows with hawthorn hedges and en 'welen' - a type of open water - and is loved by both hikers and cyclists. Fruit cultivation is the most practiced form of agriculture.
The biggest event in Nisse the sheep shearer's fest ('schaapscheerdersfeest'), held every third saturdag of June. This folklore day full of old traditions, such as ring riding, is visited by many people. Another event is the music festival Pastorale au Parvis.
