Background
Following Deuce's departure from Hollywood Undead, he released several songs attacking his former band. Because he was still under contract with A&M/Octone Records, he was unable to release any official music and therefore released a few mixtapes that contain original verses rapped over instrumentals of songs by artists like Tupac, Eminem, 50 Cent, and others. Deuce released several tracks on the internet as an independent album and a few EPs. Once he was able to drop his contract with A&M/Octone, Deuce signed with 10th Street Entertainment and Eleven Seven Music to release his first official solo album. To promote the project, Deuce released 14 solo songs from throughout his career, including the songs against Hollywood Undead and songs rapped over instrumentals, in an official EP titled Call Me Big Deuce in October 2011.
Deuce announced a 2011 release date for the album and stated that "America" would be the lead single with a music video being shot for the track. Collaborations on the album include fellow 9Lives supporters Truth, Jeffree Star, as well as other artists including Ronnie Radke of Falling in Reverse, Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, Skee-Lo, and BrokeNCYDE.
