The Night Bomber Aviation Regiment was formed on May 1948, at Ljubljana airport. Few months later it was renamed like all other units of Yugoslav Army, so it has became 184th Light Night Bomber Aviation Regiment.

The regiment was equipped with Soviet made Polikarpov Po-2 aircraft. It was part of 32nd Aviation Division. In year 1949 it has moved from Ljubljana to Banja Luka airfield, where it has remain for one year. By year 1950 it was dislocated to Borongaj for one year, and in 1951 it has finally moved to Pleso airport near Zagreb.

The commander of regiment was Branko Glumac.

The 184th regiment has remain at Pleso airport until it was disbanded. It was armed with British made Mosquito Mk 38 until 1960 when they were replaced with US made Thunderjet reconnaissance jet-fighters. Thunderjet aircraft were replaced with Sabre in 1963.

By the 1961 and application of the "Drvar" reorganization for the Air Force, new type designation system is used to identify squadrons, so the two squadrons of 184th Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment have become 352nd and 353rd Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron.
