It was issued in 1999 from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Two Commemorative banknotes. One of the notes was to celebrate New Zealand's Treaty of Waitangi and was released in 1990. Another polymer banknote was issued in 1999 to celebrate the new millennium.[4]

1990 Commemorative banknote
A Ten Dollar Note was issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to celebrate New Zealand's Treaty of Waitangi in 1990. The back shows the treaty being signed. . The bill is made of cotton and the most prominent color is purple.[5].The value is around $35 to a collector.[6]
1999 Polymer Banknote millennium
The "Bank" issued a note in 1990 to celebrate the new Millennium in New Zealand. The Ten Dollar bill is a Polymer Banknote, which is more secure than the cotton ones. Over 3 million notes were put into circulation. The most used color is dark blue. New Zealand can be seen in the upper left corner. There is a see-Thur window on the left with metallic ink. On the back are surfers and boats which have Mori in them.[7]

On the front is Kate Sheppard, she was a woman who pressed for woman's suffrage in New Zealand- the first nation to have voting rights for woman. The flower pictured next to Kate is the White Camellia, there a symbol for universal suffrage for New Zealand. On the back is a bird called the Whio or a Blue Duck. This bird is an endangered species in New Zealand. [8]
Security Features
The note has a see-through window of a fern on the left and another on the right.With the one on the right you should see the denomination when held up to the light.When the bill is shown to the light a watermark of Elizabeth II will show up. There is Intaglio printing through the bill which gives it the embossed feel. Under UV Light a yellow patch will appear with the denomination of the bill. [9]
