OFLC: MNew York Nights: Success in the City (or just "New York Nights") is a game developed for the Mobile Phone (which was released in 2005) and later for the iPod and the iPhone (which was released in 2007) is created by Gameloft. It has very cartoonish graphics and is very much like The Sims video games. A sequel, New York Nights 2: Friends for Life was later released (for the Mobile phone). A spin-off entitled Miami Nights: Singles in the City was also released and was intended for the Nintendo DS. This game is part of the Night series by Gameloft.
The logo often shows the crown of the Statue of Liberty and 4 people (2 males and 2 females) seen standing right next to each other as they see tons of cash floating in the air.

iPhone Version
The plot centers around a playable character (male or female) that has gone to New York to be with his/her sibling. The character finds a job as a dancer in a prestigious nightclub in Times Square and after that, a lot of crazy twists and turns awaits the player. The players character will meet up with different non-player characters whose personality consists of the different attitudes that "New Yorkers" possess.
Mobile Version
The plot still centers around a playable character male or female that has left his parents from Alabama and tries his/her luck in the city that never sleeps. The character only has 40 days and during this period he/she has to make new friends,find a job and find true love or else he will lose.
The games storyline is very full of humor that will be enjoyed by the player while watching breathtaking scenarios of Manhattan such as Greenwich, Times Square, Chinatown and many more!
The game was said to be made so that non- New Yorkers can experience the life in the Big Apple.
Gameplay
iPhone Version
- The player only taps on the screen to point the area where his/her avatar will go.
- To chat with non-playable in-game characters, the player has to tap the interaction button prompted whenever near to another character. There are lots of interaction that can be done, the player can chat, flirt, prank, etc.
- There are lots of activities that can be done depending on which place the character should go. These activities result to addition or subtraction of the character's attributes. This version has 16 attributes.
- The player gets to visit the many famous landmarks of Manhattan.
Mobile Version
- The player can use the D-Pad or the Num-Pad to control or move his/her avatar.
- To chat with non-playable in-game characters, the player has to come close to the character and press ok (D-Pad) or 5 (Num-Pad) when prompted to talk. Just like the iPhone version, there is also a heavy amount of interaction that can be done.
- There are lots of activities and actions that can be done like eating pizza, getting a tan, etc. These actions contributes to the 4 attributes of the character.
- The player visits facades which are commonly found in NYC.
Version Differences
The games differs from the iPhone to the mobile version in many ways:
- The iPhone has a more realistic or real-life storyline which involves the character's connection the non-playable characters while the mobile mainly focuses on the challenge.
- There is much more detailed graphics in the iPhone version than the mobile one.
- Character Customization is more detailed in the iPhone than the mobile.
- The iPhone is more advanced than the mobile version.
Places
iPhone Version
The player's avatar visits famous Manhattan landmarks rendered in breath-taking details (iPhone version). Some facades can only be visited by visiting the places found on the Main Map which shows the map of Manhattan. Some places include:
- Central Park - This is where the character can exercise.
- Greenwich - This is where the apartment is found.
- Times Square - This is where the nightclub is found.
- Wall Street - This is where the Statue of Liberty is seen.
- 5th Avenue - This is where the apartment of the character's lover is found
- Chinatown - This is where exotic good can be bought.
- JFK Airport - This is where the character starts.
Mobile Version
The mobile version does not include New York neighborhoods but instead it only contains facades from an ordinary city, however,the details of the Main Map shows the background with the Empire State Building on it. There is also a New York facade that can be visited in-game.
- Lincoln Center - The place where the character can increase his/her Culture points.
- Style Salon - The place where the character can increase his/her Beauty points.
- Sports Club - The place where the character can increase his/her Health points.
- Coffee Shop - The place where the character can increase his/her Humor points.
- Apartment - This is where the character rests.
Characters
New York Nights has tons of non-playable but interactive characters each with its own distinctive "New Yorker" personality and attitude. This is shown during interaction wherein the character has to talk to the in-game character regarding its likes which results to its relationship improvement. Discussing the dislikes of the character results to the characters hatred to the player.
iPhone Version
This version offers endless numbers of friends to give it a more "Social Sim" description.

This version offers less numbers of friends and is only limited to 8. One of the characters opposite to the players gender can become the love interest.
