The NMASC is sponsored by the New Mexico Association of Secondary School Principals as well as the New Mexico Activities Association.[1]

General Information
The New Mexico Association of Student Councils is composed of 5 districts across the state of New Mexico. [2] The NMASC sponsors a variety of activities that are available to all member schools. Activities include an annual conference held at a chosen member school, summer workshops that are held at the University of New Mexico[3], fall district workshops, and additional activities.
Executive Board
The NMASC's governing body is composed of an executive board consisting of an Executive Director, an Adviser to the President, an Adviser to the 1st Vice-President, an Adviser to the 2nd Vice-President, and an Adviser to the Secretary, as well as four state officers. [4]:2-3
- There is an appointed Executive Director whom is hired by the New Mexico Association of Secondary Principals with recommendation from the NMASC Executive Board
- State officers are students leaders elected by member schools to serve as the NMASC's State President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, and Secretary. All state officers serve for a term of one year beginning with their installation at the State Conference.[5]:5-6

- State President-(Albuquerque High School)
- 1st Vice President-(Del Norte High School)
- 2nd Vice President- (Aztec High School)
- State Secretary-(Española Valley High School).

State Conference
The NMASC State Conference is held each February at a selected member school. Each year, member schools send delegates to the conference to enhance their leadership skills, hear motivational speakers and network with other student leaders from throughout the state.
- The 2012 State Conference will be held at West Mesa High School in Albuquerque.
- The 2013 State Conference will be held at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School in Albuquerque[6]

- 2011 State Conference was held at Taos High School in Taos. The theme was the "Discover Courage, Knowledge, and Heart in the Land of Leadership."
- 2010 State Conference was held at Albuquerque High School in Albuquerue. The theme was "Passport to Leadership."
- 2009 State Conference was held at Rio Rancho High School in Rio Rancho. The theme was "The Wonderful World of Leadership."[8]
- 2008 State Conference was held at Manzano High School in Albuquerque. The theme was "Leaders of the Pack."
- 2007 State Conference was held at Taos High School in Taos. The theme was "Que Viva Leadership! Spice Up The Fiesta!"[9]:2
- 2006 State Conference was held at Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa. The theme was "Roll Out the Leadership Carpet."
- 2005 State Conference was held at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque. The theme was "All Aboard the Leader-Ship."
- 2004 State Conference was held at Hobbs High School in Hobbs. The theme was "Unmask the Leader in You"
- 2003 State Conference was held at Raton High School in Raton. The theme was "Surf the Waves of Life...Create Your Own Paradise"
- 2002 State Conference was held at Rio Rancho High School in Rio Rancho. The theme was "At the Heart of Leadership... Lead a Life to Lead Others"
- 2001 State Conference was held at Farmington High School in Farmington. The theme was "Rise to the Challenge"
- 2000 State Conference was held at Eldorado High School in Albuquerque. The theme was "Oh, The Dreams You Can Dream"
- 1999 State Conference was held at Alamogordo High School in Alamogordo.
Summer Leadership workshop
Each Summer, the NMASC hosts a Summer Leadership Workshop that occurs usually the last week in July at the UNM Campus in Albuquerque. Attendees here, learn the values of leadership, responsibility, and effective roles of being great leaders in their schools.
