Neal Hendel

Neal Hendel (Hebrew: ניל הנדל‎ b. 27 April 1952) is a judge on the Supreme Court of Israel.

Born in the United States and a graduate of the Yeshiva of Flatbush, Hendel graduated New York University in 1973 with a B.A. in sociology and Jewish studies and later studied Talmud Yeshiva University with Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. In 1976, he completed his law degree at Hofstra University and became of member of the New York State Bar Association.

In 1983, Hendel made aliyah to Israel, and settled in Beersheba. In 1988, he became a judge on the Beersheba Magistrate's Court, a position he held until 1997.[1][2] In 1997, he became a judge on the Beersheba District Court, eventually becoming its Vice-President.[1] In 2009, he was nominated to serve on the Supreme Court by the Judicial Selection Committee, and appointed by President Shimon Peres.
