National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) is a higher education technology institute currently located at located at in Silchar, Assam and soon to be relocated to Nagaland, India. It is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology.
NIT Nagaland is one of ten newly sanctioned NITs by the Government of India in 2009, as part of the of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007–2012). However, due to lack of infrastructure, it is currently functioning out of NIT Silchar in Assam. It is slated to start functioning from a temporary campus at Chumukedima in January 2012. Meanwhile, land for a permanent campus was acquired in the Niuland area.[1]
