Nannacara aureocephalus is a species of cichlid. It is a small freshwater fish living in French Guiana in South America. Its habitat is shallow water near the edges of swamps, and stagnant water in river forests.
It is considered a dwarf cichlid. The male reaches a length of 9 cm; the female about half of that.
