Background
The album was originally going to be called Pricele$$ 2, as the sequel to his previous studio album Pricele$$, however, later Birdman changed the name to Bigga Than Life. On August 13, 2010 a YouTube video called "Birdman's Bigger Than Life Photo Shoot" was uploaded.[2] The video shows Birdman having a photoshoot using multiple studios. The CD version of Lil Wayne's album Tha Carter IV includes a flyer confirming the album's name and date of release. Birdman released a mixtape in March called Bigger Than Life, featuring the 2010 Kevin Rudolf song "I Made It (Cash Money Heroes)", also featuring Jay Sean and Lil Wayne from Rudolf's studio album To the Sky, and the Gucci Mane's song "Mouth Full of Golds", from his independent album The Return of Mr. Zone 6. Birdman is on both of these tracks. The mixtape also has a guest appearance by rapper Game.[3]
Singles
"Loyalty" featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga is the first single of the album. The song was released July 16, 2010. The song is produced by Kane Beatz. The song was a leftover track from Pricele$$. The song is about loyalty and not forgetting where one has come from. The official music video for "Loyalty" was released to MTV on June 16, 2010. The song peaked on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at #61. "Loyalty (Remix)", the official remix of "Loyalty", was released October 22, 2010 featuring Tyga, Brisco, Mack Maine, Lil Twist, Bow Wow & Cory Gunz.[4] "Fire Flame" is the second single of Bigga Than Life, and is produced by Kill Will. It debuted at number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 64 in its fourth week. A music video for the song was released on November 23.[6] Before the single's release, "Fire Flame (Remix)", the remix of "Fire Flame" featuring Lil Wayne leaked on November 15, 2010.[7] The song is Birdman's first song with Lil Wayne after Wayne's 8 month jail sentence. A music video for the song was released on January 26, 2011[8] "I Get Money" featuring Lil Wayne, Mack Maine & T-Pain was released as the album's third single on April 15, 2011.[9] It was produced by The Runners and only reached No. 63 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.[10] A music video for the song was released on May 12.[11] "My Jewel" featuring Bun B and Young Jeezy was released on September 10, 2010 by HipHopConnection.com, but is not a single. Mad" featuring Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne was confirmed to be on Bigga Than Life and to be the album's next single via the rapper's Twitter account.[13] It is produced by JMIKE, who has produced for the New Boyz and T-Pain, and by 91X radio disc jockey Mad Max.
