Krasnodar is both a krai and a city within it, in Russia. Grigoriy Ponomarenko is the best-known composer from Krasnodar, which has also produced the State Cossack Choir, led by laureate of the state prize of Russia, V. G. Zaharchenko. The world renowned operatic soprano Anna Netrebko also comes from Krasnodar.
