In 1952 he and his partner John Rogers were eliminated in the semi-final repechage of the double sculls event.
Four years later he won the bronze medal with his partner Mervyn Wood in the double sculls event.
At the 1950 and 1954 Empire Games he won two gold medals in double sculls with his partner Mervyn Wood.
