It was formed on 1 January 2010 by the merger of the former municipalities Burgkemnitz, Friedersdorf, Gossa, Gröbern, Krina, Mühlbeck, Muldenstein, Plodda, Pouch, Rösa, Schlaitz and Schwemsal.
