Mount Llano

Mount Llano (84°48′S 173°21′W / 84.8°S 173.35°W / -84.8; -173.35) is a mountain peak (1,930 m) in the foothills of the Prince Olav Mountains on Antarctica, standing 6 nautical miles (11 km) northeast of Mount Wade. Surveyed by the U.S. Ross Ice Shelf Traverse Party (1957-58) under A.P. Crary, and named after George A. Llano, American biologist and authority on polar lichems; Program Manager for Biological and Medical Sciences, Office of Polar Programs, National Science Foundation, 1960-77; member of several seasonal expeditions to Antarctica from 1957-58.
